He was born on March 25, 1897, in Kaminia, Sparta, Greece, son of Ioannis Vorvis and Elene Christofilakis. He married Dora Ann Johnson on June 12, 1930. A Whitby resident for 58 years, Mr. Vorvis was a businessman;. He belonged to the Inter- national Order of Foresters, the Eastern Star Lodge, St. John the Evangelist Church in Whitby and the Greek Orthodox Church of Toronto. He is survived by his wife; sons Eonis J. Vorvis of Vancouver, B.C., Alexander M. Vorvis of Toronto, Philip A. Vorvis of Calgary, Alta., Dennis L. Vorvis of Whitby; daughter Marguerite Vorvis of Toronto; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and sister Mrs. Georgina Kiriakopoulos of Ham- ilton. The funeral was held from St. John the Evangelist Church, Whitby, on August 22, 1988 with Father Maloney officiating.
