Brumley broke the bantain boys' long jump and 110-m hurdles' records and was third in the 100mi and triple jump. Jennifer Coooper of VWtby won the midget girls 3,000-metre event and was fourth in the 1,500-meter as the Durham girls' teain placed fourth in the meet, the highest placing for a Canadian team. Other Whitby school athietes aiso had impres- sive finishes. Roxanne Woodley was second in the tyke girls' 100 metres and third in the 200 metres while her teammate, Alicia. Coke, was fourth in the 100 metres. Kim Miller placed fourÉth in the atom girls' 200 inetres. On the men's side, Darryl. Wright of Whitby was first in the atoin boys' high jump. Strong recovered from two fouls in a mat routine Saturday to post a clean routine in the women's conipulsories on Monday. She had dropped to third place because of the falîs after being in first following the first day of. com- petition. Undefeated in reguarielo ]Redmen begin.round-robin playoff PBrooklin Redmen entered last night's (Tuesday) first round-robin playoff game against Peterborough following a perfect 20-O record in regular season play. The Redmen ended their perfect season with a 15-4 win over Fergus on Tuesday last week and a 29-6 romp over Huntsville Thursday, July 28. Derek Keenan had four goals and four assists for Redmen in the game against Fergus. Bill Callan had three goals with Barry Brear adding two. Scott Boyd, Kevin Antrani, Terry Bullen, Kevin VanSickle, Dale Kernohan and Doug Deschner added singles. Keenan continued putting the bail in the net two nights later as he had five goals and five assists against Huntsville. VanSickle had four goals for Redmen while Boyd, Dreschner and Gil Nieuwendyk had three goals each. Bullen, Brear and Adam Kluwak had two goals each with singles going to Callan, Jerry Fitzgerald, Lorne Briscoe, John Dark and Tom Wreggitt. Redmen opened the major round-robin series last night against Peterborough. On Thurs- day, Aug. 4 Peterborough plays in Brampton then Brampton travels to Brooklin for a gaine on Saturday, Aug. 6. Brooklin then travels to Brampton on Monday Aug. 8 and hosts Peterborough in Brooklin on Thursday, Aug. 11. Brampton then travels to Peterborough to complete the round-robin tourn- ament. The top two teanis will thon advanco to to a best-of-sovon final, the winner to advance to the Mann Cup. Should Brooklin advance, the Mann Cup will take place at Iroquois Park sometimo during September. Brookhin will play ail of its home post-season gaines at Brooklin'a Vipond Arena. Warriors take lead in playoff series Foilowing a 12-10- overtime win in St. Catharines Sunday night, Whitby Warriors have taken a 2-1 lead in the two team's best-of-seven semi-final. The teains piayed the fourth game of the series last night (Tuesday) at Iroquois Park (following The Free Press deadline). Whitby lost the first gaine of the series 10-3 but rebounded to win the second gaine 15-12. Warriors needed a goal in the iast second of the gaine from Jeff McComb to send the third gaine of the series into overtime. Trailing 10-9, McComb rece- .ived a pass from Steve Dyment and sent the bail. past the St. Catharines' goalie. The Warriors then addod two goals in overtime to win the game 12-10. Jason Richards had three goals for Warriors on the night with Dyment adding two. Singles went te Adami Foote, Passfieid, Chris Ainsworth, Kevin Hayes, Dan McComb, Jeif McComb and Gary Mark. On Friday night at Iroquois Park, Passfleld's five goals helped Warriors defeat St. Catharines 15-12. The win evened the best- of-seven series at 1-1. Richards had three goals for Warriors with Mark adding a pair. Dyment, Hayes, Todd Wilson and Dan McCornb each had singles. In the series opener, Warriors were easily defeated by St. Catharines 10-3. Passfild, Mike Ruffo and Dave McWhirter had the Whiàtby goals. The series will resumo tonight (Wednesday) in St. Catharines. If a flfth gamo 15 needed, it will be played in Whitby on Friday night.
