Physio Designs Inc. just acquired the Canadian distribution rights to the Bioflex biomagnetic health pad that is used to relieve from muscular and joint pain. Horst Baermann, inventor of the pad and president of the Rheinmagnet company of West Germany which manufactures it, was at the Physio Designs location on Wentworth St. last week to sign the distribution agreement. Also attending was Dr. Ted Zablotsky of Bioflex U.S.A., the American distributors. "Therapy without chemistry" is how Sohan S. Koonar, Physio Designs president, described the Bioflex pad that adds to the line of rehabilitation equipment pro- vided by Physio Designs to physiotherapy and chiropractie markets. The pad is a magnetic device that, like other treatments, increases blood circilation in affected areas but with "more efficiency, economy and safety,". says the Whitby company. And without electricity or dangerous wires, Bioflex never needs recharging, the company points out. "What really sets us apart is the design of the circularly arranged alternate magnetic poles," Physio Designs explains. "Ail other conventional magnets are arranged in a linear pattern. This linear array is precisely the reason magnetic therapy has been so limited and has not fullfilled the effects that we expect, based on laws of physics and medecine." For those unable to work because of muscular or joint pain, "The pads can return people to work earlier than by conventional means," says Zablotsky, noting that it's also good for those who can't use drugs. "We don't claim it to be magic...but it is a fantastic new to.ol." Tests at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology proved the product does increase blood circulation, the goal of all therapy treatments. "It does what it's supposed to - no allergic reaction, no side effects," says Koonar, who desscribes the pad as one of the New owner of auto dealership After 15 years in the of the 1988 Summer mc automotive business, David attraet a lot of attention.
