Events begin on Thursday at 6 p.m. 'with a bingo, demolition derby, midway and refreshinents. On Friday, the women's horticultural' building and the Midway open at 3 p.m. The tractor pull, bingo, concessions, cake auction and opening ceremonies commence at 6 p.Tn. Saturday sees the women s building ofîering refreshments and a horticultural midway; the *.midway (rides, gaines) is open; bingo continues; the cattle show is open al day; at,8:30 a.m. the sadle horse, pony'and horse show. competitions, begin; at 10 a.m. the baby show opens; 2:30 p.m., the log sawing contest; at 4:30 p.m.,' the horse pull commences; and at 6 p.m. the demolition derby commences. Postal Alert is a programn mn by the Seniors' Centre andl mail deliverers. Seniors register with the centre for the service. Mail deliverers survey the homes of those registered to make sure that nothing unuspual is occurring, indicating that the Path lightin.-Lg to be studied Whitby's operations committee members want - the parks and recreation department tô look at installing lights before it coni- structs a path from Glen Ayr Park to Elizabeth Ores. As the service is also for those over 55 who won't be receiving pension cheques, these people can register with the centre. Obituaries NORVAL FLEMING Norval Cordon Fleming of Whitby died on July 11, 1988, at Whitby General Hospital. He was 84. H1e was born in Kirkfield, Ont., on May 23, 1904, son of James Fleming and Ella Beecroft. He married Vivian Mary Lucinde McGill on May 14, 1927. A Whitby resident for 42 years, Fleming worked on the inspection and maintenance staff of General Motors, Oshawa. He retired in 1966. He is'survived by bis wife, daughters Audrey (Mrs. Moore) and Orma (Mrs. Hardie) and son Glen Fleming and daughter- in-law Joan, Nora Waddell and son- -in-law Fred; grandchildren Nancy, Cindy Jane, Garth, Kim, John, Donald, Lori, Margaret, Robbie and Christine Robin; great-grandchildren Jaimie, Kelly, Michael, Tomas and David; brother Harold Fleming. The funeral was held from the Town Funeral Chapel on July 14, 1988, with the Rev. Henry Dyck officiating., Interment at Groveside cemnetery. JOHN CASSELLS John Casselîs of Whitby died on. July 7, 1988 at Whitby General Hospital. H1e was 59. He was born on November 12, 1928 in Toronto, son of -Agnes McGoogan and Thomas Casselîs. He married Olwyn Hockey in 1948. A Whitby resident for four months,, he formerly lived in Oshawa for 15 years and Fairport Beach for 25 years. 11e worked as a salesmaTi, and was an avid golfer. He is survived by brother Jim, sister Kathleen (Mrs. Bonello), son Barry, daughters Charlotte and Mary, stepbrothers "Bud" Warren, Clifford and Gary and stepmother Norma Casselîs.
