One Whitby club member, Myra lieler, will also be aiming for a. spot on Canada's world roller skating team. Whitby's Jamie Crouch, perennial Canadian champion in pairs, comfpetes internationally as a wvorld team member. Organizers of this year's nationals event in Toronto are hoping to gain a new appreciation of the sport of roller skating. Canadian champion men's ice figure skater Bian Orser will attend opening ceremonies on Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m. Sara Hepburn of the Whitby club will assist in the awards presentations. Among the skaters from the Whitby club are provincial champions Stephen Pacholzuk (elementary. figures and dance), Amy Hepburn (bronze solo dance), Cina Schmidt-Hansen (sophomore ladies' freestyle), Philip Jarvis (novice a freestyle), Shayne Bayford. (freshman figures and freestyle), Corey Ba3rford ( elementary freestyle), Jim and Toni Mulgre*w (esquire figures); Maryanne Schmidt- Hansen, novice B figures; Barbara Gould (classic ladies figures). Other Whitby club members competing, who came in second, third or fourtb at the provincial level, are Ken Leaman, Pia Schmidt-Hansen, Jennifer Mulgrew, Erica Singleton, Julie -Girard, Jerry Hood. and Paolina Malandrino.
