The third place finish is the highest placing for a Canadian couple at the German Cup. The two are also preparing for the world championsbips in Florida in October. Now that Wbitby's Glen Beauchamp bas secured bis second trip to the Olyrnpics, the 26-year-old will be traveling al over the world during tbe, next four months as part of bis training scbedule. "We don't bave enough bigb level players in Canada so we bave to travel," says Beaucbamp who qualified in the 71-kg division at the Canadian championsbips in April. Beaucbamp, along witb the Canadian judo team, will be traveling to Vienna, Tokyo, Hawaii and Vancouver. Also adding t> Whitby's impressive offense were Mike Fulton, Jeremy Harness and Scott Fox, aIl with triples. Rob Dawson, and Harness had two singles each while Gene Rainey, Fox, Jason Guindon and Shawn Neveu each had a single. Harness pitched the shut out, striking out 13 batters and ailowing only five bits. On June 7, Wbitby defeated Port Hope 8-2. Chris Harris got the victory for Whitby with relief help from Scott Fox. Fox and Greg Rennie each bit a triple wbile Shawn Beveu added a double. Rennie had two runs-batted-in for Wbitby with singles te Gene R.ainey, Mike Fulton, Fox, Neveu and Jason Guindon. Leslie McFarlane's teamn was third in 14-year -old boys'relay. Dan Bainard of Pringle Creek won the 800m for boys il and Bilan Downey of Farewell won for boys 14. Kils Johnson of Fairman won the triple jump for boys 12. Andre Marois of West Lynde won the 200m for boys il while Darryl Wright of West Lynde won the bigh jump for boys il. Alysia Humphrey of McFar- lane won the girls 13 higb jump and was third in triple jump. The 11-year-old girls' team from West Lynde won a relay race.
