Howie Moore started against Oshawa and gave'up fine runs in the first. inning . Moore was relieved by John Parrott, who walked four straight, and then Gymnasties Competition on June 5 The Enterprise Ford in- vitational gymnastic competition will be held Sunday, June 5, to be hosted by Gemini Gymnastics and - including - recreational gymnasts from eight different clubs in southeastern Ontario. Competitors will be judged on the four different events: vault, balance. beam, uneven bars and Iloor exercises set to music. Awards will be presented for individual events as well as for the best aIl-around gymnasts. The Enterprise Ford trophy will be presented to the team with the best all-around score. To add variety to the prograi,. the Gemini boys will do a short demonstration during haif-time. (their gym apparatus differs from that of the girls). Keith Powell pitched the remainder of the gamne, won 11-10 by Oshawa. ."Our pitching has been real poor so far this season," -says Moore "Our hitting has been good. The team really hasn't been out much because of the. poor weather we've had lately." After Oshawa scored nine runs, Whitby came back in the bottom of the second with six runs including Jody Turner's grand slam homerun which sparked the Whitby offence. Besides the loss, Whitby lost catcher' Aramd Robitaille when he broke his elbow in the first inning. he's out for the season. On May 11, Whitby lost to Port Hope -by a score of 9-1, in Port Hope. Keith Powell pitched the first five innings and was credited with the loss. "Our pitching was terrible that night," stated Moore. "But it's still early in the season and we have plenty of time to pick up." .Keith Powell had three singles for Whitby. Jody Turner's single to drive in a run in the ninth inning wrecked Port Hope's shutout bid. WhItIÙtby is now winless in three games. A Sunday game against Port Hope was rained out. Charlinksi didn't allow a hit in tÉe final innings as he relieved Watters. Darren Chistie and Rob Sevelle each had two hits for Whitby. Whitby mnidgets won both games of a doubleheader. Jeremy Hamness pitched a one-hitter, striking out 10 Ajax batters, in a 6-1 victory in the first gaine. Dave Winchester paced the offence with two singles and a double and scored three runs while Shawn Neveli had three hits and Mike Fulton, two hits, part of Whitby's 13-hit attack. Scott Meyers drove in two runs. Chis Harris and Scott Fox combined for a four-hitter as Whitby squeaked out a 6-5 win in the second game. Whitby led until the fourth inning when Ajax scored three. runs to take a 4-3 lead, making it 5-3 in the fifth. But in their haîf of the fifth, Whitby took advantage of an Ajax error to score a runs and then stole a few bases to set up Harris who hit a single to drive in two runs and win the game.
