Gascoigne of Oshawa died on March 31, 1988, at his home. He was 76. He was born on July 31, 1921, in Whitby, son of Smith James and Gertrude (Emery) Gascoigne. He married Gwen in 1969. A Whitby resident for 30 years, Mr. Gascoigne was a roofer. He was a member - of St. John's Anglican Church in Whitby and the Whitby branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 112). He is survived by son Garry and stepsons Gary and Greg, and brother Harold of Oshawa and sisters Mary (Mrs. Golow) of Whitby, Grace (Mrs. Vance) of Toronto and Elizabeth (Mrs. Campbell) of Whitby. He was predeceased by his wife and parents. The funeral was held from St. John's Anglican Church on April 4, 1988, Rev. Stanley Isherwood conducting. A Legion service was also held April 3.
