The purpose of the proposed by-law is to provide additional monies for the improvement, beautification and maintenance of the Whitby Central Business District Improvement Area and the promotion of the area as a business and shopping area. The effect of the proposed by-Iaw will be to increase the maximum permissible charge the Council may annually levy from $70,000.00 10 $85,600.00. The by-law wili apply to ail persons assessed for business assessment in the Whitby Central Business District Improvement Area as shown below. Ajax slo-piteh tournament The Ajax Men's Slopitc 'h Association is offering more than $5,000 in prize money and awards during its fourth annual tour- nament. The tournament needs teams for its men's 'C', 'W, DD b, and Ladies' 'D' divisions. The top three teams in each division will qualify for the Coors provincial championships to be held in Niagara Falls. The Ajax tournament will be held Friday, May 20to Sunday, May 22.
