"We're not in favor of these little matchbook houses going up," said John Kalar of the plan by Mark Tomina, owner of the property. Tomina's planning consultant, George Gray, had stated that the lots were smaller because the developer wilI opén 625 feet of H-igh St. to Dundas St. "In order for development, he bas made smaller lots," said Gray, adding the. developer would "break even" on the subdivision work. 0f the 10 lots, four have1 age of 50 feet, dive have frontage and one bas frontage. Two gold watcbes, a gold ring and a gold medallion wereamong the items stolen from a home on Upland Dr. wbile the owners wbere on vacation in Spain. .Durham -Regional Police report the owners returned from a montb in Spain to find a back door slightly ajar. Somebody bad been watching the bouse but did not notice anything was iissing until the owners arrived borne, police report. Police said the suspects sear- ched tbrough drawers and otber areas of the bouse. A smnall aniount of money was also stolen. Police were unable to provide a value for the items stolen. Whitby store sign is'damaged. Damnage is estimated at. $2,000 to a sign in front of Ruffles Classic Country Interiors at 214 Cobomne St. W. Police say the top part of tbe sign was broken tben placed on the front steps of the business.
