"IWe in Durham are supposed to know what's going on -we're not," said Emm, "Where's the approvai from Durham? " Metro can keep their garbage." Metro Toronto identified the in- terim landfill as a possible alter- native to the Brock South location which was put on hold by Metro in December. The Brock West site in Pickering is expected to be closed i 1990 and the SWEAP process is to identify a new longterm site. Metro works department says the interim site includes an ares partly in Metro Toronto and in that part of Durham Region which lies between the Oak Riciges Moraine (which runs east and west ln an ares north of Highway 7 and south of Lake Scugog) and Lake Ontario. More specific interim sites couid be iden- tified ln March, accordlng to Metro works., "lIt could be anywhere in the southern part of Durham," said Emmn. "No wonder they're in the mess they're in. They've been dragging their beels for years. They've done nothlng, absolutely nothing.
