Free Press photo Arena equipment understudy Whitby's parks and recreation department is investigating the possibility of replacing 28-year-old refrigeration equipment now at Luther Vipond arena with 12-year- old equipment recently removed from Iroquois Park. The equipment at Iroquois, which includes a 30-horsepower com- pressor and a rooftop condenser, was removed when Iroquois un- derwent renovations. To install the used equipment would cost $50,000, according to preliminary costs received by the department. But new equipment would cost about $200,000, recreation director Larry Morrow told council Monday night. The department has asked con- sultants Totten Sims Hubicki and Associates to investigate the feasibility of relocating the equip- ment. The consultants will determine whether or not Luther Vipond could physically hold the equipment and the condition of both the equipment Vikings edge Nomads Oshawa Vikings first team han- ded Toronto Nomads their first defeat of the season Sept. 19 thanks to the foot of Tony Squarciotta. Vikings got four penalty kicks from Squarciotta, the fourth with time running out, to give Vikings a 12-10 win and move them past Nomads into first place in the Toronto and District rugby league. Meanwhile the Vikings second team dropped a 10-4 decision to the Nomads second team. Vikings who got a late try from Brian Brittain, had been undefeated in five weeks until meeting the Nomads. now at Luther Vipond and the equipment removed from Iroquois. Morrow says the consultants should be reporting to the depar- tment within a week. A report will then come before council. i
