WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 1987, PAGE 17 Vikings reach Marshall Trophy rugby semi-finals with win Oshawa Vikings first team has advanced to the Marshall Trophy semi-finals in provincial cup play after an 18-10 win over the Barrie first team on Sept. 12. Oshawa got off to a sluggish first half, trailing 7-4 with Craig Ewing scoring Oshawa's lone try. In the second half, Vikings collected themselves, outscoring Barrie 11-6 to win the game. Scoring second-half tries for Oshawa were Frank Cox, Jeff Lemon and Brian Watt. Tony Squarciôtta, on as an injury replacement, added a conversion to round out the second half scoring. With the win, Vikings will meet Toronto Welsh first team on Oct. 24 at Lakeview Park in semi-final ac- tinn. Vikings second team had an ea- sier time with their Barrie count- erparts, winning 45-0. Scoring for Oshawa were Dave Stone, two tries; Mark Gibeault, Jim Morris, Bob Clarke, Scott Stephenson and Brian Brittain, all with single tries.
