A century-long wish fulfihled With an always ready smile to greet family and friends Margaret Sears realized a lifelong ambition on Tuesday when she celebrated her lOOth birthday. "She alwayssaid she wanted to live to see 100," said daughter Jessie (Mrs. Dave Burleigh) of Brooklin. "And she bas a strong wil." "It's alright, but you just eat and sleep," said Margaret, who lived i Brooklin for 20 years before moving to Fairview Lodge in 1976. She.was born Aug. 18, 1887, in Paisley, Scotland, the only child of John and Margaret- (Young) Black. She came to Canada in 1903 and, married Alfred'Ernest'Sear's in 1913. They had three daughters - Mabel (now Mrs. Fowler of Bowman- ville), Violet (now Mrs. Gordon of Ottawa) and Jessie - and a son, Melvin. Alfred Sears died in 1960 and Melvin in 1970. Cooking, sewing, camping and of course, her family have been Margaret's main interests throughout her long life. "I wouldn't change anything. I'd keep it ail the same," she says, adding there's no secret to long life. "It just cornes."
