Meetings of the committee may be . requested as necessary by medical staff or hospital board to discuss and, if possible, resolve any major points of contention. or misunderstanding between medilcal staff and board. The committee also advises the board on matters pertaining to medical staff 'discipline. The joint conference committee consists of the president of the board who acts as chairman, executive director, chief of staff, president of the medical staff and one other governor. The chairman is Peter Eberlee, a resident of Whitby for 21 years. 'A graduate in civil engineering froni the University of Toronto in 1956, he is a principal in Totten Sims His duties as president of the board of governors were fully outlined in the Whitby General Joint conference committee Hubicki Associates, engineers, ar- chitectsand planners. He bas been in hospital ad- ministration since 1969,1 has a bachelor of health service ad- ministration and is a certified member of thé Canadian College of Health Service Executives.- Although not a board member, Miler acts as the board's secretary, is a member of the joint conference committee, and attexids aIl board and committee meetings. The executive director appointed by the board, is the chief oxecutive officer and secretary of the hospital corporation. .He is responsible for the ad- ministration of the hospital in ail its departments subject to the policies established by the board. In relation to bis work on the joint conference committee, the executive director must report to the board any failure of a physician to act in accordance -witi statute law or hospital bylaws and regulations. He must also report about any patient who, in the opinion of the director of nursing, is not making reasonable progress towards recovery or who is not being visited frequently enough by the attending physician or surgeon;ý He consuits. with the. medical staff advisory committee «concer- ning the requirements of the hospital for surgical instruments, and supplies, scientifie equipment, drugs and medicatioxis. The chief of staff of Whitby General Hospital is Dr. J. AMan Assing, LMCC, a graduate in 1950 of Tufts University, Boston, Mass. He is also a diplomat of the National Board of Examiners. Ho has been a member of the hospital board for five yoars., As medical representative, he is appointed by the board. to liaise with the medical staff activities of the hospital. The president of the medical staff is Dr. Scott Henderson, a family physician in Whitby for the past eight years. A member of -the board for three years, Dr. Henderson coni- municates between the medical staff and the board of governors and presents medical advisory reports when the chief of staff is absent. He is also a member of the property and planning committee. iDDD DURHAM The other member of the board on the joint conference committee is Bill Wallace, administrator fo r the Town of Whitby and vice- president of the hospital board. A board member for five years, Wallace has been a resident of Brooklin for 22 years and bas ser- ved as a director and property committee chairman of Trafalgar Castie Sehool, director and Peter Perry Award chairman for the Whitby Chamber of Commerce, vice-president of the Manchester Community Credit Union, director of the Durhani Housing Authority, meniber of the Whitby Rotary Club and chairman of senior citizens' housing for Brooklin. Particularly effective in the, production which wrapped up recentiy were Georgina Willis as Rosemary, the secretary in love witb Flnch; Bill Peel, -superb as the boss's nephew Bud Frump; Garvin Farr, i two 'roies inciuding the dodderlng board chairman; and Gor'd Noble just right at boss Biggley. Anne Waiker as Smitty beits out probabiy the funniest moment of the show, a bit invoiving female employees ai wearing the same dress. Wlth the.exception of a sticky elevator door, the numerous set movernents went wlthout a hitch.
