APRIL 22,1987 COMING EVENTS MEETING The Durham chapter of the Canadian Cystie Fibrosis Foun- dation will meet tonight (Wed- nesday, April 22) at 8 p.m. in the program room of the Whitby Public Library. Meetings are usually held the third Monday of each month but this month's meeting was scheduled for Wednesday because of the Easter holiday. For infor- mation call 668-1469. CRAFT FESTIVAL The seventh annual Whitby Festival of Crafts and Supplies will be held at Iroquois Park arena May 1, 2 and 3. Hours are 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $1.50 (children under 12 free). There will be 130 booths of crafts and supplies. PARENT FINDERS Parent Finders will meet Mon- day, April 27, 8 p.m., at Eastdale Collegiate, Oshawa (room 109). The group offers help and support to adult adoptees who wish to trace their origins, and to birth parents who seek their now adult children. Adoptive parents are also welcome. The concert will feature Tom Coghill, who has been touring Southern Ontario schools, to deliver the message of addiction awareness. The Survival Guide Project, based in Whitby, is a non-profit organization devoted to moving youth toward a positive lifestyle. "If you are a concerned parent, bring your child or teenager to this concert - don't just send him," says William Little, vice president of the Project. "It's a great opportunity to spend time with your kids and show the that you truly are concerned for their welfare and future," he says. Admission is $5. WHITBY KIWANIS president Harry Simpson strad- dies a bicycle that will be one of the prizes at the May 2 Bike Ride for Cancer through Whitby. Kiwanis look for 200 in bike ride Whitby Kiwanis are hoping to at- tract 200 participants for this year's Bike Ride for Cancer May 2. Last year 109 residents took part in the 20-km. ride which raised $10,000 for cancer research. Whitby Kiwanis have raised about $150,000 for the cancer fund in the 32 years since the club was formed. This year's ride is the tenth organized by the club. Bicycles will be provided for the ride by Canadian Tire of Whitby and Bicycle City of Oshawa. Participants are asked to be at Centennial Park (Brock St. S.) at 10 a.m., May 2. Should it rain, the event will be held the next day, Sunday, May 3, and will begin at 1 p.m. There will be 10-speed bikes awarded as prizes to the male and female with the highest amount of money collected. Hot dogs and pop will be provided free for everyone, courtesy of Miracle Food Mart and Whitby Town Plaza. The bike ride route will be patrolled by St. John Ambulance, Durham Regional Police and Whit- by Kiwanis. Whitby General Hospital SALE OF MEMBERSHIPS The Annual Meeting of the Corporation of the Whitby General Hospital wili be held on Thursday, June 25th, 1987 at 8:00 p.m. in the Hospital Cafeteria. Section 2(2)(c)(iii) of the Hospital By-Laws states: "A member. who pays his or its fees annually shall not be entitled to vote nor to participate at any meeting of the Corporation unless his or its membership fee was paid in full at least thirty days prior to the date of the meeting."
