Also, the Agricultural College, communlty coleges, Colege of Art and Toronto Institute' of Medical Tecbnology hosted a seminar at Coilege Information Nigbt, at Eastdale Coleglate ln Osbawa on Nov. 20 for ail lnterested Gr. il, 12 and 13 students. The nlght was extremely successful and many found it very informnative and en- joyable. Nov. 13 and 14 were the days of parent- teacher interviews. These nights were to i- formi parents of their children's progress i artistic, athietie and acadernic endeavors.. The Ajaxc Rotary youth exchange program is offering interested Gr.*il and 12 students a chance to live and Iearn in another country. Any 16 or 17-year-old student interested, can check in the guidance office. On Nov. 18, Gr. il classes went on retreat to Manresa in Pickering. On Nov. 19, other Gr. il classes wenton retreat to Camp Samac in Oshawa. Ail classes experienced an en- joyable and spiritually uplifting day. In sports, midget and junior girls yileybail tryouts are being'.,beld. for midgets, you must be 14 or 15 by Sept:. 11986. For juniors, you should be 16 by Sept1 1986. A special in- vitation goes out to the Gr. .9's to corne out for the midget team. On Nov. 18, the junior girls basketbail team represented , DO'C at a tournament in Oshawa. Our girls played an extremely -weil- discipllned game against Nicolsen, winning 3&27. The second game was a -tougb one, a lieartbreaking loss of 42-0 against a strong Crestwood team. Higb scorers for the tour- nament were Shiela Heaney with 18 and Heike Fisher and Natasha, Pierre with 14 points each. The girls played extremely well for coach Dufresne. 0wr hockey, team lost their 7 game; to a tough O'Neil teamn on Nov. 18. N.- euthanized. 310 un- wanted and.,stray cats during Use months of July, August and Sep- tember. The nuaibers are from the pound's ac- tivity report submitted to Use Ajax-Pickering- Witby (PAW) animal contrai committee last Wednesday. The report conains Use number of animais brought ta the shelter from the Uree towns. 0f Use 310, 104 stray cats picked up in Wbitby were eutbanized. The quarterly report, aiso shows Uat 86 stray and unwanted dogs were euthanized. That puts the yearly total ta, date at 243. For cats that total is 646. Carole Lang, the manager of Use Wbltby animal pound said Usose figures are not significantly bigh. She said Use numbers were mucb bigber a year aga when Use humane society ran Use pound because they would aiso talce animais from out- side the three towns. A total of 69 stray and unwanted -dogs, and 55 cats, were adopted froni Use pound---in July, August and eptember. The concert band, intermiediate band and Use Anderjazz band will be piaying. The concert starta at 7:30 and should be two hours in duration. The Christmas concert bas become something of an annuai tradition at Anderson. This is director Uranowski's :Loth concert wbile at Anderson. Tickets can be purcbased at the door or in advance for music students or from Uranowski bimself. Tickets cost $3 for aduits, $2 for students and $2 for senior citizens. Kiwanis, Use annual higb school music competition, is being held in April.
