"'There are a lot of young people corning into the sport and it seems for everyone that buys a horse there are always four or five friends that corne along," said Pearson. This year, along with stakes races'being held in JuIy and August, Picov Downs will host the Rags to Riches Futurity with a pur- se of $50,000. Time trials for the futurity will be held the first weekend in August wîth the final set for the second weekend. "The betting is the same here as it is at any of the big tracks -in Toronto," said Pearson adding that at Picov you are a lot dloser to the horses. Races are held every Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. The admission price is $2 and a program cost $1.50.
