Sponsored by the On- tariô Hûmane Socety, the tour will help raise money for the construc- tion of an equine rescue and rehabilitation cen- tre at the society's farm in Newmarket. The stallons, currently in Florida, wlll cross the border into Ontario on April il in time for their flrst show in Windsor April 12. From there they wiI continue on to Chatham, Port Hope, Trenton, Kingston, Gananoque, Brockvile, Hawkesbury, Ottawa, Pembroke, Whltby, Simcoe, Brantford, St. Catherines, Missis- sauga, Burlington, Toronto, Brampton, Richmnond Hill, Owen Sound, Goderlch, Sarnia and Orangeville. The master of ceremonles for the Whltby show will be Colonel Ottomar lierr- mann Jr. who, wlth bis father, managed to save the Llpizzans from the Nazis during World War Two by dlsgulsing the white stallions wlth dirt and dark shoe pollsh. Once they had eluded the Nazis, the Herr- marins enllsted the aid of General George Pat- ton to escape the Russians. The story of thefr miraculous escape was later made into the Walt Disney movie, Mracle of the White Stailions in which Col. Herrmann performns. Because of thre recent resurgence of interest in qullting, two thirds 0f thre quilts on display this year have been done in the 1980s. One such quilt, an adaptation of the ever-popular Colonial Lady design by Sandy Small, shows off each of the twelve ladies appliqued, embroidered and trimmed by In. dividual members of the St. Mark's Quilters.and then assembled and quilted by thre group - an overaîl project of several months' duration.
