Lacrosse just around corner For Whitby Garrard Road Minor Lacrosse Association another season is in the making; Lacrosse sehool is un- derway, the first i registration date bas past (March 8), and the second registration is up comning on April 12. The April 12 registration, for 3 to 19 year olds, will be at Iroquois Arena, 10 ar. to 2 p.m. Registration fee for 1986 houseleague wiIl be $35 per player; $50 per family. Ad- ditional $20 per player for rep teains, tyke to intermeditite. Free registration for Paper Weights, 3 to 6 year olds inclusive. Over the past winter months, the Executive have been busy with the planning of a Houseleague set-up and Rep teams, if sufficient interest is shown. The fund raising committee is looking at two dances, tag day, pay-what-you- pull-tickets, barbecues, bottie drive and W.G.R. souvenirs to produce funds to make our 1986 season a sucess. Whltby Council passed the holding provision Monday nigbt after council members learned the watermain in the vlcinity was not vide enough to provide enough water to handie a major fire. .A flow test conducted by thxe Whitby Fire Department on Bowinan St. indicated that 800 imperlal gallons per minute (igpm) la available froin the 6 in- ch watermain. The fire department requires 2000 impg to FROM PG. 16 faciitate their aerial equipinent. That pressure can only be provided by the in- stallation of a twelve in- -ch watermain. The regional, works departinent has estlznated the cost of constructing the twelve inch watermain at $250,000. Whtby Council bas requested that the Region of Durhamn pay for the installation of the watermaln, and include the cost ln the 1986 budget. But Vic Silgailas of the Region's Works Departinent said the request is stilI under review and la not in- cluded in the 1986 budget at the present time.
