"Curve ahead" signs and centreiine markings will also be put in place in 1986. The measures were approved at this week's council meeting after councillors learned the resait of the public works departments second study inta the problem. A speed study, cou- ducted over a 24 hour period late iast October reveaied that more than 2,000 vehicies used the road every day. While the average speed was 60 km/h approximately 50 vehicies locked in speeds between 100-140 km/h. Due ta the numerous curves in the road, the design rated speed (for adverse weather con- ditions) is 50km/h. The report aiso in- ciuded an accident history for the area which indicated that mare than 14 accidents have occurred on Nichai in the past five years, several of them in- volving vehicies that iost contrai, and either left the roadway and it trees or wandered into the oncoming traffic. Whiie the public works department was initially asked ta ex- plore the possibility of From page 19 Bantams finish off in Leningrad tra, a smaii Finish village near the Russian border before heading ta Hesinki for the World Bantam Championships and then it's on ta Koping, Sweden for anather tournament.
