The product offerings for '86 represent two more models than were available last year and are highlighted by the flagship Toronado and Oldsmobile's family car, the Delta 88, both new from the ground up. In addition, new body styles are being added to round out the Firenza and Calais lines with the arrival of the Firenza notchback coupe and the Calais sedan.' Calais in addition will have two new specialty cars in 1986 - the ES, a sophisti- cated sports sedan, and the GT, a sporty coupe. Oldsmobile will also be of- fering several exciting new features such as FE3 suspen- sion, electronic brake control and new engine technology. Delta 88 (NC) - The all-new Delta 88 coupe and sedan will also make their debut in 1986. The full-size, family car market remains a very im- portant one for Oldsmobile. Oldsmobile customers will find that the new front-drive Delta 88 will more than live up to their expectations. It has the interior spaciousness to which they are accustomed as well as improved handling and major fuel economy im- provements. The exterior design of the Delta 88 is contemporary with soft lines and rounded edges, yet the new sedan re- tains .the traditional Olds- mobile styling with its split grille and semi-notchback roofline. The new coupe is highly styled with rounded backlight and sloping roof- line. It is expected to appeal to younger buyers who want a practical, roomy car with an extra stylish flair. Major improvements in aerodynamics have reduced the coefficient of drag to .36 on the 88 Coupe and .38 on the Sedan. The sporty coupe will be available as the Firenza and the Firenza LC and will widen the appeal of the Olds- mobile small-car line-up. It has been targeted to attract the younger entry-level buyer and to increase Oldsmobile's appeal in the female market. To emphasize the sporty positioning of the Firenza carline, the Firenza GT has replaced the up-level hatch- back. The GT combines sporty appearance with ex- cellent performance and handling. Standard is a 2.8 litre- V6 engine with manual transmission. A new performance hand- ling package, combined with 14-inch low profile' Eagle GTs, results in a sùperb handling, fun-to-drive car. New 1986 Oldsmobile Fîrenza GT y NC Calais New 1986 Oldsmobile Calais ES Sedan NC (NC) - Calais, which was introduced as a coupe in 1985, will be complemented by a sedan in '86, thus in- creasing that car's appeal to young families. And for those homebuyers who want a more spacious, open feeling in the front seating ,area, a column shift option will be available. Two specialty cars - the Calais GT and ES - will also be available in 1986. The GT features composite headlamps, aero rocker panel extensions, specific front and rear fascias, a two- tone paint scheme, 14-inch aluminum-styled wheels and Eagle GT tires. FE3 sus- pension is standard and a 3.0 litre V6 engine is available. The ES sedan will have composite headlamps with blacked-out rocker panels, moldings, bumpers and mir- rors.
