Eberlee Park offers an affordable alternative The sod has just been turned for the new Eberlee Park sub- division but already almost half of the lots have been sold. With homes ranging from $75,000 to $99,000, Whitby's newest sub- division offers an at- tractive, affordable housing alternative. There's a demand for smaller, well- constructed houses, ex- plained developer Jim Reininger, president of Avilon developers. While the company initially expected its new subdivision to ap- peal to first time buyers, it's finding that a lot of buyers are homeowners trading up. "When people buy a small house in Eberlee Park, they're paying less because it's smaller, not because it's inferior quality," Reininger stressed. "No matter what size home we build, the quality is THISWEEK! _ AlSIzes & SStyles-- I FRAMING 6842 m il-CENTRE 82 FROST, WHITBY ; i - M LIMIT ONE COUPON PER CUSTOMERi MM -BUSINESS FORMS •LEGAL CERTIFICATES -WEDDING INVITATIONS -NCRFORMS consistent." Whether the home is a three or four bedroom, on a large pie shaped lot or a smaller link home lot, all of the Eberlee Park homes include a host of extras. The exteriors feature wood sectional garage doors, and solid brass door fittings. Inside, oak railings adorn the stairways and full height ceramic tiles grace the bathroom. Kitchen equipment is custom fit. Those who purchase smaller lots, have three styles of homes from which to thoose, while those purchasing 50 foot lots have the option of a custom-designed home. The subdivision road, Dorvis Drive, is being put in now, and con- struction of the homes is slated for the first week- of November. Possession dates are being given now for February and March. -CARDS •FOLDERS •LETTERHEADS & ENVELOPES •CATALOGUES PRINTING AND OFFICE SUPPLIES 218,HARWOOD AVE. By keeping the num- ber of units down, ex- plained Reininger, per- sonal supervision of his sites is possible. "A lot of problems with respect to future ser- vicing can be avoided," he explained, "by taking care in the initial construction stages." Reininger and his father have been building houses for 50 years. Tight quality control has been the cornerstone of their company, said Jim Reininger. By limitmng the number of units, quality can be better controlled and problems such as those encoun- tered· by Grand Oak Homes avoided, he said. The bad press received by GOH has af- fected his company, admitted Reininger. Since he's new to the area and has no other subdivisions in Whitby, Réininger encourages prospective buyers to check out his company's workmanship by visiting other sub- divisions completed in Scarborough. "Any one can go and see, knock on doors and talk to the homeowners. I think you'll find very satisfied people," he said. Asked about his com- pany's record with closing dates, Reininger said he managed to make every date within a week last summer - plumbers' strike and all. "We don't believe in giving unrealistic closing dates," he ex- plained. Eberlee Park is located off Bellwood Dr., just north of Dun- das St. E. at Thickson Rd.
