The referees lost control somewhere during the second period, when things went froin bad to worse for Whitby, who took the Lion's share of the penalties. The consolation round was a second gaine and ended with a 6-3 vic- tory for Whitby. The tournament goalscorers were Wayne Pruneau with 9 goals, Shaydon Santos netted 7, Steve Taylor scored 6, Jay Stewart added 3, Matt Sorchetti and Mike Massey scored a pair each, with singles by Paul Flintoff, Frankie Lowe and Michael Wye. Whitby bantams en- tered the Clarkson "A" tournament winning two Whitby got off to a great start by beating Brampton for the first time in several years. The bantams played their gaine of bail han- dling and speed to win 8- 6. Gaine two against the tough Etobicoke teain ended in a 10-9 victory also. The third game against Mssissauga proved to be Whitby's downfall losing 5-6. They were eliminated froin the finals by a minute percentage dif- ference in for/against goals. The Checkers Variety such scores as 12-1 against Scarborough and two games against Ajax resulting in 18-O and 13-1 scores. Warriors now leading theiur OLA division have taken first place away from St. Catherines in the junior 'A' division of the On- tario Lacrosse Association. The Minto Cup cham- pions now have a 12-1 record with 24 points and 227 goals for with only 112 goals against. Whitby also has a gaine in hand over St. Catherines who have played 14 gaines so far this season. Whitby secured fîrst place after beating St. Catherines in two mat- ches held June 12 and 14. In the first gaine Whitby won 19-14 and outpaced thein 18-11 in the second. The local squad also tacked up an impressive 20-4 rout of Etobicoke two days later. The Warriors' Joe Nieuwendyk is now holding llth place in this season's scoring race. Nieuwendyk has played in six gaines scoring 24 goals and adding 18 assists for a total of 42 Brooklin Redmen are fighting Owen Sound to remain in second place in the O.L.A.'s major junior 'A' division. The Rednien are six points behind firat place Peterborough and have two games in hand over Owen Sound in the fight for second spot. In eight gaines, Brooklin has earned 6-2 record. Owen Sound has 10 games and a 6-4 record. Brooklin has 115 goals to its credit and has only allowed 64 to be scored against thein. The Redmen also have two in the top ten scorers in the league.
