SHORT Drector of Planning Corporation of the Town of Whilby Whitby Town Council has given its approval to a Whitby Public Library request to purchase large print, French language and talking books. At its meeting last week, council gave the library permission to spend $2,570 for !he pur- chase of these materials. Council also allocated $11,885 for the purchase of several capital equipment items 10 sup- port present library programs and improve office efficiency. Coun. Joe Bugelli, the town's representative on the library board, noted that the library will receive matching Wintario grants for these purchases. He also said that the money had been provided for them in this year's budget but before the grant was given, council had to specifically allocate the money for these pur- poses. ns either mbt or out of the plaza which will eventually share a common access with the Bad Boy Plaza onto Crawforth St. Both Coun. Joe Drumm and Coun. Mar- cel Brunelle opposed the plan saying that it would create additional traffic problems on Thickson Rd. Drumm also fears that the plaza will pave the way for the exten- sion of Crawforth St., something that the On- tario Municipal Board has ruled will neyer happen. Brunelle noted that Thickson Rd. is 'to be widened to four lanes south of Crawforth St. IlSo where do we start cutting back the ac- cess? " he asked. However, Coun. Joe Bugelli maintains that the plaza will prove beneficial to the area. "This plan cleans up the corner once and for ah," he said, "and Id sooner have an entrance off Thickson than Crawforth."
