WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, J ANI .A RY 30 1985, PACG 13 I w Second visit to Catch 22 proved to be as pleasant an By MICHAEL KNELL Free Press Staff Regular readers of this page wil remember high praise 1 gave to Whitby's own Catch 22 when 1 visited there last fail. Well, last week I returned to the Bryon and Coîbourne Sts. restaurant to find that I wasted no words during my first encounter there. .The food is still out of this world, the service superb and the at- mosphere stili relaxing and cordial. In addition to aIl this, I am told that beginning as early as next week, an exciting new menu will be introduced at Catch 22. The new menu starts off at lunch where in ad- dition to the usual fare, dîners with a taste for something different can try such dishes as salmon stroganoff (the same as the more tradition Hungarian beef stroganoff but with portions of salmon), shrimps salad jam- balya, oriental meat balis, orange pork chops or "poulet vingt-deux", a creation unique to Cath 22. I tasted the "poulet vingt-deux" at lunch last week and it was truly excellent. The moist, tasty chunks of chicken were served in a cup shaped giant crouton that was crun- chy and savored just the right amount of garlic and spices. This dish was accompanied by one of the best serving of scalloped potatoes Vve eaten in any restaurant, anywhere. That offering was a vast improvement on the standard baked, mashed, or fried spuds one is usually faced with. 112 auxiliary report By MAJORIE ADAMS The Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112, Whitby, held their regular mon- thly meeting on Jan. 9 in the Legion Hall.
