Yu notice I.say my first batch. Most mothers wiil understand what I mean unless kids have changed a lot since I was Young. The first batch is always made well ahead of time and carefuily hidden away until the holiday festivities begin. The second batch 18 whipped up ina hurry at the last minute when its discovered that the resident "mice" have been nibbling at the first batch. Maybe this is the year when 1 should fool the "mice" by leaving ail the baking until the very last minute. Can Ireally be that mean? WINNERS The winners of the draws held at the Navy League dance on Nov. 24-were S. Wiliamson who won a loin of pork donated by Dempster's Butcher Block in Whitby and Sarah and Peter Kelly who won glft cer- tificates donated by Earl of Durham ln Whitby. The ladies' auxiliary would ýalso like to thank Brooklin Village Shoppe and Rennies Flowers for their generous donations. CHRISTMAS CONCERT The annual concert at Myrtle United Church wil be held on Saturday, Dec. 15 in the church hall. Ail members of the community are invited to attend. LIBRARY ADULT GROUP The last meeting 0f the season will be held on Dec. 11lfrom 12:30Oto 1: 30 p.m. as usual. Catharine aigle from Durham Health Services w ill prescrit "Time of Our Lives", a workshop dealing with menopause. It is hoped that discussion groups will help make this a more positive experience for women and give a greater understanding of what is happening to their bodies. All they have to do is drop into the library and choose a book to take out and they are automatically entered in this deliclous prelude to Christmas fun. Five new members were welcomed into the chapter at a ritual con- ferring the "Preceptor Degree"., officiated by chapter president Myr- na Lou Simpson. The five new members are Judy -Hill, ,,Pat Mac-' Donald, Sandy Met- selaar, Helen Nagy and Erlyne Young. The Chapter has a Santa Claus suit for rent and additional infor- mation 18 available by calling 725-3317. Final arrangements are being made for a family Christmas Party in early December. In presenting her with the award, the chamber said: "She has been en- thusiastically involved in a wide variety 0f ex- tra-curricular activities and has demonstrated natural leadership ability. "Perhaps her greatest strength is her ability to get along with diverse groups of people. She was well liked and respected by the student body and by her teachers."1 While at school she was involved in the Canadian Mathematics League Contest, was a writer for the student newspaper and a mem- ber of the community public relations staff; was a member of the student council; par- ticipated i n five intra- mural sports as well as being a member of the school soccer team.
