WITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 1984, PAGE 7 Cotchm2 2 Catch-22 isa restaurant with class. If any restaurant was to get the title of Whitby's premier dining establishment it would probably be Catch-22 located at the corner of Coîbourne and Byron> Sts. It is also a restaurant for ail occassions be it a lunch with friends, a might out or on Sundays for brunch. Prom Monday to Friday they have luzi- cheon specials for $3.50 which includes a choice of soup or salad and a full course mal. The special changes Mr. Fis h & Mr. Muff in Perhaps the best part of Christmas is the traditional Christmas dinner. Turkey, ham or goose with ail the trim- ming is a mouth watering delight in every home. But the days im- mediately before and after the big event are busy ones and no one is more active than- Mom. Instead of making her cook every meal in the days before the holiday, one might try picking up an order of fish and chips to go from Mr. Fish and Mr. Muffin on Dundas St. W., just west of Frances St. The fish and chips at Mr. Fish is just out of this world, a reviewer for this new spaper wrote recently. Their choice of fish ranges from halibut, cod, sole or haddock ahl dipped in a batter that is flot overly spiced or overly duil. It is fried to a crisp without drying out the beautiful white flesh. The chips that ac- company the Ifish are fresh, well cooked and not greasy. The rest of the lun- ch/clinner fare is fairly standard and includes such things as steak on a bun, veal cutlets, and, of course, burgers. However, if none of these tickle the fancy, try the shish-ke-barb. The meat is tender," juicy, properly spiced and cooked to perfec- tion. Owner Peter Gavriiidis brings 10 years of fish and chip experience tu Whitby having- owned and operated similiar suc- cessful operations at three Toronto locations - Brimley and Lawrence, Kennedy and Ellesmere, and Victoria Park and Sheppard. The other part of Mr. Fish and Mr. Muffin. is muffins. They are bakéd on site. Each day he of- fers 120of the 35 varities that he makes. Picking up a dozen might be the perfect Christmas mor- ning breakfast. They're fiiling but won't spoil the appetite for the big dinner ahead. Mr. Fish and Mr. Muf- fin is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to il p.m. He is open Christ- mas Eve until il p.m. and New Year's Eve un- tiI 10 p.m. He is closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day. everyday. and is available from -12 noon to3 p.m. On Saturdays from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 9 p.m., one entire room .0f the restaurant is devoted to their smorgasbord. The centre piece Of the smorgasbord« is a 100- pound Ponderosa hip of beef which is sliced right before the diner's eyes. Thursday through Saturday evenings, the bar room offers live en- tertainment with dan- cing to the sounds of either "The Brook- fields" or Paul George and Des Hilton. Tuesdays at Catch-22 is ladies' night when the ladies can eat a steak and lobster dinner for $9.95 while refreshing themselves from the bar at happy hour prices. And because they believe in equity, Wed- nesdlay is the man's night out with prime nib dinner being served for $9.95.
