You know what a diet is don't you? It's a penalty for exceeding the feed limnit. Dieting seems to be one of the evils with which those of us who have attained middleage have to contend, along with the odd ache and pain. The biggest pain to a dieter, hQWever, is a family mem- ber who can eat anything and neyer gain a pound. In our family, there is a six-foot-plus that can best be described as one ^long gut surmounted by the "black hole" and anchored with a pair of size 20 diving boots. A sort of oversized'Pac man. Leftovers are neyer any problem, I just step on a diving boot and the black hole opens up to swallow everything shovelled into it. Some years ago to save wear and tear on the refridgerator we had a swinging door installed. My husband has tried claiming the grocery bills on his income tax as a capital expenditure but the gover- nment doesn't consider a resident garbage can as a legitimate deduction. BEEF BARBECUE The Beethoven Oddfellows' and Kinoven Rebekkahs are holding a beef barbecue in the Kin- smen Park (behlnd the Library) on June 9. There will be ail kinds of super bargains plus a bake table featuring delicious home-made pies. You can go on from there to the Legion Auxillary yard sale in Brooklin. It runs through to 5 p.m. and wil give you tixne to find some great buys before you go on to the barbecue in the park. FAIR WEATHER EXERCISE The Slim and Trim prograin has moved outdoois to take advantage of the nice weather and stiil give you a chance to get in shape for that new bathing suit.
