Ail the loose strings are being tied. - However, student- oriented activities are stil going on. On May 31, the CHUM History of Rock boomed in our gym to the delight of very enthusiastie students. It was a welcome bit of frivolity before the reality of examinations. There will be little time in the next couple of weeks to think of anything else. Two of our- students proved their skills on the tennis court last Thursday. Bernadette Butler and Paula Had- den participated in the COSSA Tennis Tour- nament and they played very strong matches with only one game lost during the entire day's tournament. They suc- ceeded in winning the' consolation round. Congratulations, ladies. A reflection of the year's events at Denis O'Connor bring to mind a good many pleasant events and a couple of sad ones as well. The victories were many - the junior boys basket- bail team making and placing in the LOSSA championship; the midget boys basketbaIl team- winning COSSA; and, a most successful and enjoyable spring concert. Yet,, we've had our losses as well. The foun- der of Denis O'Connor, Father Leo Austin, passed away this past month, just one week before the Alumni Reumion. If it wasn't for Father's chasing after and establishing a dream, none of would be enjoying the warmth and activity of DO'C. We also witnessed the death of our friend and classmate, Jim Mur- phy. Jim was a source of strength to us; he taught us that much can be overcome with faith and determination. It is hard to believe that after 20 odd years the doors of Denis O'Connor in Whitby will be shut and a new chap- m
