Horton invites everyone to the April 10 clinic at the Byron St. Legion Hall "for all boys and girls who need this kind of support." A blood donor clinic will be held on April 10 at the Legion Hall on Byron St. S. in Whitby. Margaret Horton, blood donor recruitment chairman, would like to see the record number of donations given at the last Whitby clinic top- ped. The clinic held on Jan. 10 was "the most suc- cessful ever" Horton said. "A total of 453 people attended the clinic making possible 414 donations. Never before, in Whitby, had this many donations been made at one clinic." Horton does not know why attendance was so high. "I wish I knew what caused such an at- tendance so it could be repeated at clinic after clinic," she said. "On the promotional side of things, nothing was done differently." One young boy was diagnosed as having Myeloblastic leukemia at age nine-and-a-half. He lovingly and tenderly will receive you now if you will only accept His death, bu-ial and resurrection as your complete hope of salvation. This is thegospel (ICor. 15:3-4)! This is the good news of Easter to everyone who will beieve. To astmaster's club report Easter a time for celebration By THE REV. DR. RONALD E. BAXTER Pastor Faith Baptist Church Soon it will be Resurrection Day, or as we call it in our society Easter Day. It is society's day for especially celebrating the well-attested fact that Jesus physically arose from the dead. We celebrate this great truth because it is the cornerstone of Christianity, without which the rest of our belief structure crumbles. If this seems rather dogmatie consider the argument of I Corinthians 15:14, "And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain." This verse is merely an introduction to even more catastrophic matters, "if Christ be not risen". Let me list a few for you. "If Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain." I Cor. 15:14 The preaching in our church services is nothing more than pious platitudes, which are empty and meaningless, if the resurrection did not occur. After ail, either Jesus was a bad man, a mad man, or else He was who He claimed to be. But at the heart of His personal claims was this one, that He would rise from the dead (John 2:18-22). Such a claim either sets Him off as mad, or bad (i.e. a con-man), if its truth were not proven in resurrection. What then would be the basis for our preaching of Him in any aspect of His life and character, if He is dead? "If Christ be not risen, then - your faith is vain." (I Cor. 15:14) You say that you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? I tell you that you may as well place your faith in Peter Pan if what Jesus claimed about His resurrection is untrue (Check John 10:17-18). Indeed Jesus would have proven Himself not to be "the Son of God", for it is the empty tomb that authenticates that claim (Rom. 1:3-4). Why place your faith in such a person? "If Christ be not risen, then - (the Apostles) are found false witnesses of God." (I Cor. 15:15) At the very core of Apostolic witness was the great fact of Christ's resurrection (Acts 2:32, 3:14- 15, 4:10, 4:33 etc.), Paul painstakingly builds his case for the bodily resurrection of Christ in I Cor. 15:5-8, calling forth Apostolic witnesses to the risen Christ. Either they were truthful or not! And if not, what do we do with the rest of their writings (i.e. the major portion of the New Testament)? Only a fool would trust the writings of proven liars! "If Christ be not risen, then - ye are yet in your sins." (I Cor. 15:17) So you believe that you can come to God con- fessing your sins and have forgiveness (I John 1:9). Well it is all a lie if Jesus did not rise from the dead, because that would prove that He died as a condem- ned sinner (Rom. 6:23) and not as an atoning Saviour (Is. 53:5-6). It is by the resurrection that we are declared just in God's sight (Rom 24-25). By believing in the resurrection we are "saved" (Rom. 10:9-10). "If Christ be not risen, then - they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished." (I Cor. 15:18) You said your tearful farewells to your loved one by that open tomb. The preacher read from I Thessalonians 4:13-18 about the day Jesus would return and the graves would be opened and those who had died in Christ would be caught up to heaven with Him. But, if Christ is still in the grave, then those who have died are perished - never to arise in Christ. Anihilation is the ultimate for ail of us, if Joseph's toomb stiil holds the body of Jesus. "If Christ be nlot risen, then - we are of ail mon most miserable." (I Cor. 15:19) The hope of christianity is gone! Karl Marx was right, "Religion is the opiate of the people"! Heaven is a myth! Forgiveness, clean- sing, eternal union with god - ail are false! Misery, anxiety, gult and nothingness becomes the sut> stitute for hope. We are miserable creatures if Christ ho not risen from the dead. "Lot'us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die" (I Cor. 15:32). Ah, but wait! "But now is Christ risen from the dead and bocome the firstfruits of themi that siept." (I Cor. 15:20) Ho is ailive today! Ho intercedes for us at God's right hand! (Heb. 7:25) Ho enters our lives and makes our bodies Ris dwelling place! (John 14:23) Ho really does have "power on earth to forgive Call now for your appointment 668-9262
