Toastmasters repor By PETER BIRD Toastmaster Mary Cathrine Smith, as first tixne chairman opened the meeting and archestrated the in- troduction of the head table by asimilating its members -with mem- bers of an orchestra. The general evaluator, Joan Winter, was the pîcaho. Steve Reiiy as the Toastmaster was the trumpet and Peter Bird as the table topic master ,-was the first violin. The, maestro, Mary Cathrine Smith lead a hectic business session. Table Topics were given by Peter Bird and as a stand table topic usually 6"assistants" were now "ini charge". The winner of the table topic trophy was Bob Korhonen as the stand- in dentist. The evaluation was given by Ken Smith. Tonight was the club's evaluation contest and this. was run by the Toastmaster Steve ReilIy. The speech to be evahuated was given by Dave Mclean who lead us on "A Wild Goose Chase" talking about the hunting of geese. There were six par- ticipants in the evaluation contest, Neil Taylor, Bob Korhonen, Steven Smith, Nick Lusita, Peter Bird and Bob Porter. The second runner up was Bob Por- ter, the first runner up was Steven Smith, the winner who wil revresent the club at the Area level was Peter Bird. The general evaluator, Joan Winter gave ber critique of the head table and, the meeting, scohding the assembly for wasting time ini the business session. The parliamentarian was Egon Pedersen, the grammarian was Bob Porter and the Ah! Counter was Yoko Bar- ber. John Clarke was the timer and Wendy Craig was the second time during th e evaluation contest. Bob Porter stood in as the mystery man and also won the Spark Phug.- There were four guests, Walter Kranzl, Gerry Vankuik, Charlie Hastings and Mark Lascbuk. The Oshawa Toast- masters meet on Wed- nesday nights at 7 p.m. at the Y.W.C.A. on Sim- coe St. South in Oshawa. These mights wiIl also, feature a wide range of contests including such things as a huWahoop competition and best grenser at their 50's night. .Caker hopes ta, make these plans known in the near future. He adds that the average price of dinner for two would be about $30 at bis fully licensed establishment. Cokee Joe's was previausly known as the Dixie Roa dhouse and before that the Whitby Hotel.
