According to a spokesman for the for- ce, Shirley Blair, the manager of the Hilltop Texaco at the corner of Kendalwood Rd. and Dundas St. E. discovered that 16 thefts had taken place since Dec. 23. A tbtal of $1,820 was found to be missing and the facts were hidden because the books had been altered. Charged with 15 coun- ts of theft under $200 and one count of theft over $200 is Robert William Fry, 18, of 1533 Dundas LSt. E., Whitby. He was released on a appearance notice and will answer to the charges in Whitby provincial court this Friday. According to a spokesman for the Durham Regional Police Force the man shoved his way out of the prisoner's dock in Judge Joeseph Kelly's courtroom at about 10:20 a.m. Sheriff's Officer Jean Lawrence attempted to prevent the escape but i so doing was pushed into a door, suffering slight injuries to her back. He got out of the building and managed to make it as far as Rossland Rd. and Gar- den St. before being recaptured by Sheriff's Of ficer Gary Fossum. Rev. David Long of Cooksville South parish read the Gospel. Preaching the sermon was Canon Clifford Ward of St. Hilda's Church, Toronto. The speaker told the congregation about Mr. Barlow, saying, "he's his own man. Rod has been his own man at Midland and that is evident of that since a whole bus load of people came down. They really loved him." Canon Ward knew about the bus load of parishioners from Midland. Your assessment is important because the amount of property tax you pay depends on it, in that the assessed value of your property is multiplied by your municipal and-school mill rate to determine your 1984 property taxes.
