WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 1984, PAGE 11 ACVI has visions /of 1984 By D. WiGGERS A.C.V.I. With 1984 here, thoughts of George Or- well's infgmous novel bas sparked interest amongst some people directing their expec- tations in the upcoming achool year. While some Ander- sonions migbt be quick to speculate that teachers can be per- sonified as "Big Brother" to fulfill Or- well's predictions, the overail opinion of the year appears to be quite positive. The only event that apparently oc- cupied the students thoughts at this time was exam week which ran from Jan. 18 to 27. These exams are especially significant for many grade 13's who are faced with deman- ding entrance marks for university enroîlment. However, with the conclusion of exams, the students of Anderson are looking forward 'to many activities in the school. The two most famous events are, without a doubt, the An- nual Winter Carnival and the Valentine's Day Dance. In previous years, Anderson's win- ter carnival had been continually demied the presence of snow but with tîi.is- year's winter climate, ail snow ac- tivities, both within and outside of the school, appear to be very promising. Anderson's Students' Council is also showing great promise for the upcoming year with new activities. However, in the light of the new yrwe should not ignore the presence of the "Little -Guys". In Anderson's case, this of course means our grade new invention and become famous;" "Mrs. Kirk wil become known for ber cooking;" "I would like to see a girl's rugby team because there are many girls who enjoy those types of sports and we feel that anything boys can do girls can do bet- ter; " "I want to win $11,000,00;" P "Mr. Craning will win a look- alike contest for Burt Reynolds;" and "An- - dei-son wil beat Henry at Mayor's Cup."
