Besides the bride and groom, it usually includes the church or hall, guests, clergyman or jus- tice of the peace and the in- famous photographer ciicking away during the ceremony. Today, however, many weddings include a relative newcomer - a video- grapher. That's a person who videotapes the pro- ceedings. And with porta- ble home video gear it's easy enough for almost anyone to do. K-MART PLAZA WHITBY 1801 DUN DAS ST. E. Williams, market- ing manager for General Electric's Video Products Division. "As a result, it's a perfect way to capture the 'live' feel of a wedding without being obtrusive." Previously, the only means of capturing the "live" feeling of a wed- ding was with a home movie camera. But home movies were neyer really practical for events like weddings, Williams com- ments. 'Filming a home movie during a wedding* ceremo- ny tends to' be disruptive because it requires addi- tional lighting, and the camera itself can be noisy," he says. Aside from weddings, portable video equipment is perfect for recording ev- erything from vacation highlights to the kids' little league games. Cost Comparison But what about cost? True, a video camera and VCR are more expensive than a movie camera and projector. But ini the long run, savings from video can be substantial com- pared to movie film. A study by the GE Vid- eo Products Division esti- mates that six hours of home movie film, includ- ing processing*, can mun be- tween $1,200 and $1,400. And the user must find room to store about 120 cans of 50-foot film. One six-hour videotape cas- sette, on the other hand, costs an average of only $15 to $18. And it can be reused indefinitely, if de- sired. Today's video equip- ment also has features nev- er found on conventionai home movie equipment. Bright, Sharp Images A new GE video camera offers super-sensitivity that produces bright, sharp color images whether shooting in sunlight out- side the church or in low lighting in the reception hall. And, its small size and light weight make the camera an easy tag-along for the honeymoon trip. "What's nice'about vi- deotaping your wedding.or any special event is that the whole day can be brought to life months or years lat- er, simply by replaying the tape on your home TV secen," Williams says.* And, as videotape con-* tinues to increase in popu- larity, the videographer will become more coin- 'mon, at weddings-anid other special occasions, captur- ing precious. memories that will be relived for a life- Classic Dignity For Those "Special" WEDDING FLOWERS Y 1188 Si mcoe St. S., Oshawa <at Ritson Rd.) 576-17ý60 4 PLEASING YOU SUCCESS *Weddings *Potraits *Business & Sports Photographs *Special on Weddings Booked Before March 3lst.
