PAGE 12, WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 23, 1983, WHITBY FREE PRESS A Night with htysFns by SANDRA LUCCI' The Marigold Dinner Playhouse celebrated their first year of operation in Whitby last Friday night. To help com- mnemorate this evening, mnany special guests were invited. My guest and I were two of them. Upon our arrivai, our coats were taken and we made our way through a crowded back entrance. We were greeted at the door by the dynamic duo, who gave us a very charming welconie. The waitress then led us to our table, which was to be shared with two other complimen- tary guests. The waitress was friendly, offering a choice of chicken, veal cordon bleu, baked halibut or prime nib. The plates were adequately dressed and more than sufficient. Throughout dinner, the atmosphere was ful of excitement as guests such as Mayor Bob At- tersley, Gary Herrema, Durham Regional Chairman, and many, others exchanged pleasantries. After dinner we moved upstairs to resume our seats - the THE REGIONAL MUNICIPAL17 0F DURHAM' DURHAM r-y PUBLIC NOTICE Take notice, that the Regonai Municipality of Durham is considering AN APPLICATION TO AMENO THE DURHAM REGIONAL OFFICIAL PLAN The amendment, as proposed by the applicant, would permit a Garden Centre on private services to be Iocated within the site Indicated on the map below. ln order to assist ln the evaluation of the amen- dmnent application, the public ls lnvited to provide Input by way of submlssions to the Regions Plan- ning Depariment. Don Hadden Chaîrman, Planning Committee Dr. M. Michael, M.C.i.P. Commissioner of Planning first two in the back row. Ail waited anxiously for A Bed Full of Foreigners to begin. The llghts dimmed and the curtains swung open to reveal a slightly run-down hotel rooni, situated on the French- German border. The scene was set by Karak (Raymond Marlow) an alcoholic porter-han- dyman, who was preparing for the arrivai of guests Stanley (J. Daniel Van Wyck) and wife Brenda (Marlene Foran). Froni there it was a minglement of confused reservations with the arrivaI of the next visitor .Helga (Erica Kohl), whose timeliness to surprise husband Claude (Joseph Matheson) was impec- cable. The evening progressed further into chaotic scheming and hiding of wife Helga from seductress cabaret dancer Simone (Arlene Mazerolle), and trying to keep a depraved hotel manager Heinz (Barry Yzereef), away from unsuspecting wife Brenda. Through a weak plot, the acting shone ad- nurably. But by the second act, things did pick up considerably. Pelvic tilts by the en- ticing Simone, did a lot to stimulate the audien- ce to outbursts of ex- citement. When the play ended, because of our ideal seating arrangement, we were able to make a quick departure back to the moon, via the Mfilky Way. Now In- Whitby d[ff UNIS FYlij- I 12 2 kI'ro #S.
