Logo will soon bie sprouting ail over WHITBY-The Whitby Marigold Festival logo, designed by *Ron Cross of 609 Bradley* Drive, wil soon be sprouting ail over town. 1 The logo, which wil be printed, on posters, *banners', programs and peusport coins, consists of stylized "W" with a marlgold i the centre, topped with a half cir- cie, The stylized "W" represents Whitby and ia arranged i such a manner as to depict the leaves of the marigold, or a garland or ribbon, another- symbol of festivals. The partial circle above the garland or "W" represents the ful sun, -a symbol of sun- shine . and warm weather., The marigold represents the theme of the festival and Whit- by's town flower. Recently, Cross was presented with a $200 cheque for designing thé' logo in a contest spon- sored by the Whitby Marigold Festival Committee. The Whitby Marigold Festival wiil be held from Sept. 8 to , p featuring sueki events as an international night at Iroquois Park, a casino night, pancake break- fast àt Cullen Gardens, theatre nights at the Centennial -Building, jamboree and bathtub -race at, the harbor, 10 km. run, soap box der- r i by, Children's program at Rotary Centennial Park and a giant parade. Tom ado Relief Fund The Town of Whitby will be assisting the Lambton County Tor- nado Relief Fund. Town Coundil decided to amend an original recommended donation of $100 and votèd unanimously to increase the contribution to $500. Correspondence from the Lambton County Tornado Relief Fund in- dicated that an unin- sured bs of ap- proxixnately three million dollars had taken place. The fund' raising committee is at- tempting to raise at least hall f o this boss from various sources. Councillor Joe Bugelli Mon.-Thurs. Frlday Sat. voted for the con- tribution saying, "lWe ,might need assistance from other communities some day." Frise also noted that the campaign is anxiously awaitmng the replies 0f about 80 charitable organizations who were approached.
