WHITBY WOMEN'S INSTITUTE The regular meeting of the Whitby Women's Insti- tute was held at the home of Grace Carr, 309 Dunlop St. E., onMay24. The meeting openedjat 1:30 p.m. by President Kay Hepburn, assisted by Secretary Josephifie Smith. Fifteen members were present and repeated the ode and Mary Stewart Colleet in unison. The roll caîl was answered by naming a country that Is now at peace., The motto was the secret of happiness ites flot in doing what one likes, but liking what one does. 1 The convenor for the program on Canadian Democracy was Grace Carr, who gave a v ery inter- esting and educational reading on the subject, ex- plainlng what democracy really means in Canada. The district director, Aleta Campbell, spoke on the informative leaders conference held recently in Waterloo th4t she attended. Plans were made for five members to attend the S4th annual meeting of Ontario S. Women's Instituté, which was held on May 25 in Myrtle United Churchî. After the meeting adjourned, a lovely lunch eon was served by hostesses,, Bessie Acton and Josephine Smith, and a social time was enjoyed by ail.
