BasebaU Legionaires win The Whitby Legion- aires team won their third consecutive game in Oshawa City and Dis- trict. Fastbail, Brady Division, as they edged7 Mr. G'sS8-5. Wayne Owen con- tinued bis hitting tear for the winners as he slammed three singles. Doug Seeley belted a double and a single while Peter Davidson added two singles. Dan Denyer, Jirn Spiers, Ted Mangeil and Les Moskalewicz each contributed a single to the Legionaires attack. Bob Bathe slammed three singles for the losing squad. The Legionaires got on bis way to the win. K&M 1J~r CL EANERS on the scoreboard in the fourth lnning as Owen and Muir singled and both scored on single off the bat of Mangeil. The Legionaires tai- lied three runs li the fif- th inning as Owen, Spiers and Davidson ail belted RBI singles. They added three runs in the eighth inning as Seeley drove xi two runs with a double and scored on a single by Denyer. Moskalewicz picked up the victory with relief help from Dave Withers. Scott Hoerrnann re- corded a personal best time of 53.4 seconds to win the silver medal in the midget boys 400 metre race. Andrea Bacchochl took second place li the midget girls 80 metre hurdles as she recorded a tirne of 12.7 seconds. She also finlshed fifth i the 100 metre dash wlth a Urne of 12.9 seconds. Eric Heins posted 'a Urne of 6 minutes and 9 seconds to take second place ithe gruelllng open boys 2000 metre steeplechase.
