The theme for the week Is I"Making Lite Botter for Everyone. ' The local Public Works Departments are preparing to offer group tours of thefr depot or plant facililties and to explain the types of ser- vices and programs they provide. -Durlng Public Works Week, the opportunity wll be pre- sentod'to area residents to learn 'more about Public Works opera- tions and how it affects the lifestyle of their community. The Public Works De- partment in a muni- cipality is responsible for the planning, con-' trol, and maintenance of public works facilities and services i order to croate a pleasant and orderly envfronmont for the residents. Genor- ally, the department is divided into the follow- lng operational activi- ties: engineering, con- struction and main- tenance. The Public Works De- partmont is rosponsiblo for the engineering and design of road, side- walk, serand -bridge improvemonts through-- out theý munitipality.
