ELFORD The Free Methodist Church in Canada I'm always glad to be around when our furnace oil delivery man comes to fill the tanks. His name is Alex. He claims no theological degrees nor does he pretend to be a great Biblical scholar, but he is a genuine Christian and talks about things that are worth remembering and sharing. Like the other day, we stood in the driveway chat- ting for a few minutes as the snow fell. He told me about a friend who had made a pre-Christmas visit to his home in obvious distress. She was disturbed because the Christmas "build up" didn't seem to have the same extra special sparkle for her this year. It seems that in previous years, her emotional pulse had always shot up to a real high at Christmas time. But something had happened in Alex's friend's life that had changed ail this. Earlier in the year she had accepted the Lord Jesus into her heart. Her life had changed. The love, joys, and peace of the Lord Jesus had invaded her human spirit. "That," said Alex, "was the answer to her pro- blem. When the Lord Jesus comes into a person's life, there is joy ail year long - not just at Christ- mas. The Holy Spirit of Christ gives inner joy al the time." He's right you know! Now what about you? The tinsel, trees, cards, creches, and candles have ail been put away for another year. Did the glow of Christmas go with them leaving you with the January "blues"? It doesn't have to be that way. Christ came to stay with us and gave His love, joy and peace not just on Dec. 25 but ail year round. Thanks for that thought Alex!
