In addition, four special appearance options provide further market coverage. FIRENZA Firenza, Oldsmobile's entry in the compact market, is available in six models. With a 101.2-inch wheelbase, the five- passenger Firenza features front-wheel-drive, transver- se engine and rack and pinion steering. New top the lineup for 1983 are two station wagons-- the Firenza Cruiser and Firenza LX Cruiser. These models provide customers with 64-cubic-feet of cargo volume with the rear seat folded down, and yet are compactly sized for manoeuvring and parking. When the rear seat area is utilized for passengers, the area can accommodate 34- cubic-feet of cargo. The cargo opening of the new wagon is 48.3 -inches at floor level and the opening height is 30.1-inches. Standard equipment on the . wagons includes a tailgate ajar warning lamp in the instrument panel and a rear window wiper/washer is available. Exterior appearance of the wagons can be tailored by customers by ordering the optional two-tone paint, simulated woodgrain ap- pearance or an accent stripe. The Firenza Cruisers share trim with hatchback and sedan models. The stan- dard trim is available in either vinyl or cloth and the deluxe trim is available in velour. All models feature a standard floor console and reclining front bucket seats. A fold-down rear seat is standard and a split folding rear seat is available in either coupe or wagon models., A new standard.engine for 1983 Firenza models is a four-cylinder 2.0-litre L4. It is teamed with a four- speed manual transmission as standard equipment and available with either a five- speed manual or automatic. OMEGA Four Omega models, both coupes and sedans in base and Brougham levels, are available for 1983. Customers may also order 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera Sedan with ES option the Omega ES or ESC ap- pearance package for a con- tinental look with blacked- out grille, wrap-around bumpers with integral scoop, black headlamp bezel, taillamp bezel, door frame, quarter window and rocker panel moldings. A firm ride and handling package, custom sport steering wheel, styled polycast wheels with trim rings and blackwall tires complete the look. The new instrument panel incorporates side win- dow defoggers located in the radio speaker grilles and front windshield defroster grilles. A rocker-type headlamp switch replaces the push-pull switch and a headlamp-orrwarning signal is standard equipment. New for 1983 Omega models is the availability of a new. inproved stereo radio that includes separate bass and treble control. in- dividual balance and fader controls and increased power outlet. New seat designs for 1983 Omega models feature low backs with separate headrests and the standard models have the addition of a fold-down armrest. Power is supplied by a four-cylinder 2.5-litre engine combined with either a stan- dard manual four-speed transmission or automatic. The 2.8-litre V-6 will also be available and again can be ordered with either automatic or manual tran- smission. Available with the ES option is the high output 2.8- litre V-6 engine. Performan- ce is expected to be about 11- seconds 0 to 60 miles per hour, or about 1.4-seconds faster than the standard V-6 engine; In 1983 a four-speed nmanual transmission is also available with the high out- put engine. With the four- speed manual transmission, performance is expected to be 10.5-seconds or about eight-tenths of a second faster than the standard V-6. CUTLASS CIERA Four Cutlass Ciera models are available for 1983 a coupe and sedan in both the Cutlass -Ciera LS and Brougham series. Revised rear end panel molding and tail lamp treatment highlights styling changes for 1983. New optional elec- troluminescent exterior opera lamps are offered on both coupes and sedans. The optional console is revised to include a coin holder and a new T-shifter lever. specific to Oldsmobile. A first for Oldsmobile is an electronic instrument panel cluster available on Cutlass Ciera models. The display includes a digital speedometer for speed readout, bar graph fuel and engine temperature gauges, low fuel warning indicator, trip odometer and an English/metric conversion' switch. A special option, of- fering similar continental flair as the Omega ES, is the 1983 Cutlass Ciera ES. Available on either Cutliss LS or Brougham models, the new option is of- fered on both coupes or sedans. Specific exterior ap- pearance items include blacked out grille bars, headlamp housi'g and rear end treatment. Both side and bumper rub strips are black as well. Continuing the theme are oversize steel-belted blackwall tires and specially-designed wheel- covers, along with dual outlet muffler. On the interior, reclining bucket seats, a console with floor shifter, sport wheel and gauge package with tachometer are standard equipment. Either the Ciera LS or Ciera Brougham trim may be specified to round out the look. A firm ride and handling suspension package (F41) is standard. The package is available in five exterior colors. The standard engine in the Cutlass Ciera series is a four-cylinder 2.5-litre with automatic transmission. Op- tional power is provided by a 2.8-litre 'V, a 3.0-litre V6 and a 4.3-litre V6 diesel, Optional engines are available with either automatic three- or fdur-speed transmissions, although the four-speed is not available until mid-1983. CUTLASS SUPREME Six models make up the Cutlass Supreme lineup for 1983--coupes and sedans in the Cutlass Supreme and Supreme Brougham series, a Cutlass Calais coupe and a Cutlass Cruiser station wagon. The coupes have new rectangular pattern grilles with bright vertical bars and recessed horizontal minor bars. The sedans and wagons share a new square pattern grille. Special treatment is given the Calais with black painted headlamp doors and amber parking lamp lenses, specific paint stripe is added as standard equipment and optional body side mouldinga are black. Standard power on Cutlass Supremes and Cutlass Cruiser wagons is a 3.8-litre V-6 engine. Optional power plants include the 5.0 litre V-8 and 5.7-litre V-8 diesel. The 4.3-litre V-6 diesel is also optional in Cutlass Supreme coupes and sedans. An automatic three- speed transmission is stan- dard on ail Cutlass Supremes. DELTA The 1983 Delta 88 series- is represented by six models--a Delta 88 sedan, Delta 88 Royale coupe and sedan, Delta 88 Royale Brougham coupe and sedan and Custom Cruiser. Al models share a new grille design consisting of multiple sections of horizon- tal bars. Delta 88 models are powered by a standard 3.8- litre, V-6 engine. Optional power is available from either a 5.0-litre V8 engine with, four-speed automatic transmission, or a 5.7 litre V- 8 diesel which may be or- dered with either a three or four-speed automatic tran- smission. NINETY-EIGHT In the 98 series, three models-98 Regency coupe and sedan and 98 Regency Brougham sedan--are available for 1983. The grille is updated but with the traditional Oldsmobile look. The standard power plant in 1983 Ninety-Eight models is a 5.0-litre V-8 engine coupled with an automatic four-speed tran- smission. Optional power is available with a 5.7-litre V-8 diesel with an automatic transmission. TORONAI) New for the Toronado Brougham coupe is an op- tional sound system developed by Delco Elec- tronics and Bose Cor- poration. It includes elec- tronically -tuned radio- cassette player with added features such as a switch to optimize playback of high performance tapes, dolby noise reduction to minimize tape hiss and dynamic noise reduction to further reduce noise in tape playback and decrease noise in AM and FM broadcasts. The 1983 Toronado is powered by a standard 5.0- litre V-8 engine and optional power is available with a 5.7- litre V-8 diesel engine.
