UNA ALLISON Mrs. Una Allison, a resident of Sunnycrest Nurs- ing Home on Dundas Street East in Whitby, cele- brated her lost birthday on Tuesday, October 5. Gerry Emm, representing the Town of Whitby, presented Mrs. Allison with a letter of congratula- tions from Mayor Bob Attersley, and a bouquet of flowers. The Corridor Area Ratepayers Association also honored Mrs. Allisonwdith a beautifully decorated birthday cake and a corsage of pink car- nations. CARDIAC REHABILITATION ORGANIZATION The Cardiac Rehabilitation Organization will hold a novelty and bake sale on October 23, between 9 and 4 at the Midtown Mall in Oshawa. Baked goods or novelty items may be taken to the Midtown Mall on the morning of the sale before 9 a.m. or dropped off at the home of Ann Preston, 329 Kendalwood Road in Whitby the evening before the sale. All con- tributions will be gratefully accepted. HOLY FAMILY PARISH CARD PARTY The Holy Family Parish second annual card par- ty will be held on October 18 at St. Mary of the People Parish Hall, Stevenson Road, Oshawa at 8 p.m. Admission is $2.50 per person and you will have your choice of bridge or progressive euchre, or if you prefer your own table, cards of your choice. You have to be between the age of 17 and 65, weigh at least 100 pounds and be in good health (not taking medication and not re- covering from the flu or a cold). CORRIDOR AREA RATEPAYERS EXECUTIVE MEETING There will be an executive meeting tonight (Octo- ber 6) for all executive members at 8 p.m. in com- mittee room 2. A representative from West Lynde will be attending to learn about the Neighbourhood Awareness Program organized in our area by three of our members, Bob Kennedy, Coleen Bell and Dennis Fox. Blood Donor Clinic Polka Dot Door The Whitby Jaycettes will be presenting the Polka Dot Door live at Henry Street High School, Whitby on Satur- day, October 16 at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. Live, the Polka Dot Door is an extension of the television series that has provided so many worthwhile educational and enjoyable exper- iences for thousands of children since 1971. This is your opportu- nity for your children to meet their friends the Toys (Humpty, Dum- pty, Marigold and Bear), the various hosts, the Polkaroo, and to participate in mime, song, language and dance. Hospital neds volunteers The Auxiliary to the Dr, J.O. Ruddy General Hospital is appealing for additional adult and teen volunteers to assist in various facets of their work. Adults are required to help at the front desk and with the gift cart, morning coffee and ac- companying patients in ambulance to other hospitals for testing and treatment. A co-operative form of babysitting may be set up to enable those with young children to parti- cipate in these and other Auxiliary programs. An orientation day has been set up for Tues- day, October 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the 2nd floor classroom of the hospital. Anyone wishing to be- come a volunteer is wel- come to attend or call 668-0064 (daytime) or 668-5443 (evenings) for further information. In addition, any teen- ager between the ages of 14 and 16 interested in giving a few hours a week to the hospital on a regular basis may sub- mit an application to join the volunteer pro- gram. Training will be pro- vided on an orientation day to be held later this month.
