Dudley Wilson of Whitby was, sailing bis boat on April 30 when he discovered'a decompos- ed body near the break- water of -the channel leading into the Witby Marina. During bis testimony at the inquest, called by coroner Dr. D.W. Con-, ley, Wilson said that he called the police who removed the body from the watéër using bis boat. When Dempster was noticed as missing, she testified that another centre staff member took ber place at the cot- tage wbile she went out insearch of him. Crystal Cowan, the other residential coun- sellor' on duty in Demp- ster's cottage at the time of bis disappear- ance, testified that she also noticed him missing wben the resi- dents were called for supper. She then conducted a search of the house but was distracted by another resident who was having "a physical encounter" with Van Den Bogaard.. She went to get help. Cowan furtber testi- fied that Dempster bad a habit 'of walking around the' lakeshore, especially at the Whitby Yacht Club where he would look at the boats. Dempster, she said, was a "Irisk resident" somen>who might burt' tbemselves or others. Eric Mayne said that a, search was con- ducted of -the groundsý and buildings at' the facility whicb is shared with t he Witby Psy- chiatric Hospital.'
