PAGE 10, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2, 1982, WHITBY FREE PRESS The 71st Brooklm Spring Fair opens tomorrow By DON WICK The annuAl Brooklin Spring Fair, which opens tomorrow and continues through ,Sun- day, will contain many new events, as well as the old favourites. Access to the fair will be easier this year for people who don't have cars. A special bus will run on Saturday, taking people to and from the Whitby Transit stop at the fire hall and the GO Bus stop on Highway 2 at Whitby. The bus leaves the GO Bus stop at Shorty's Cigar Store every half hour from 9:25 a.m. to 10:25 p.m. and leaves the Whitby Fire station stop every half hour from 9:28 a.m. to 10:28 p.m. Transfers can be obtainèd from Whitby buses or a 50 cent fare can be paid. The Canadian Unity Caravan, sent by the federal government's Canadian Unity Inform- ation Office, will be in Brooklin all four days of the fair. It will feature information about Canada in a super- market-like atmos- phere. The spring show of the Ontario Guernsey Asso- ciation wll take place on Friday, June 4. Up to 100 cattle are expected "from all ove' southern Ontario including the all-Canadian 4-year-old and the reserve all- Canadian 4-year-old. Some of the cattle to be exhibited at Brooklin will be entered in the Ontario Classie Sale on June 20 at Grafton. This sale will consist of about 40 of the top animals in the province. This is the third all-Ontario spring show for the Guernsey association, but is the first one to be held at CONT'D ON PG. i1l Official fair program Petting zoo This goat is just one of the animals children can see and pet at the KenJen Petting Zoo which will again be part of the Brooklin Spring Fair. Other animals included at the zoo are: donkies, Ilamas, sheep, geese, rabbits, an emu and a kangaroo. The animals are owned by Ken and Jenny LaSalle of Oshawa who now have three zoos travelling across the country from Toronto's Canadian National Exhibition and Vancouver's Pacific National Exhibition.
