CINEMASHOWCASE Teenage hijinks"Porky's" theme "Porky's," director Bob Clark's rowdy, raunchy comedy of ado- lescence, is expected to open soon at a local theatre. The 20th Cen- tury-Fox release is an Melvin Simon/Astral Bellevue Pathe Inc. presentation. The title is dérived from the name of a notorious redneck dive to which six lusty teen- agers are hypnotically drawn in the belief that they can purchase car- nal experience on its premises. Filmed in and around Miami, the youthful comedy is a showcase for the six talented ac- tors chosen to portray the hormonal-driven adolescents of Angel Beach High School. Dan Monahan (Pee Wee), Mark Herrier (Billy), Wyatt Knight (Tommy), Roger Wilson (Mickey), Cyril O'Reilly (Tim) and Tony Ganios (Meat). Also heading the cast are Kaki Hunter as Wendy, Angel Beach's "fast" co-ed; Art Hindle as Ted Jarvis, a cop who is Mickey's older brother; Wayne Maun- der as Cavanaugh, a beer-guzzling bigot unable to control his rebellious son; Nancy Parsons as the girls' humorless "phys-ed" teacher, appropriately named Miss Bal- bricker; Scott Colomby as Brian, a student who has to fend off the anti- Semitic insults of a classmate; Chuck Mit- chell as Porky, pro- prietor of the roadside dive; Boyd Gaines as Brackett, the school's randy athletic coach, and Doug McGrath as Brackett's colleague, Coach Warren. Kim Cattrall is Miss Honeywell, Angel Beach High's libidinous gym teacher; Alex Karras is Wallace, the. sheriff who works as an ally of Porky's, and Susan Clark is Cherry Forever, a brassy hooker who promises the boys more than she delivers. "Porky's" is a change of pace for Bob Clark, whose recent films in- clude "Tribute," starr- ing Jack Lemmon, and the Sherlock Holmes thriller, "Murder by Decree." The characters in "Porky's," young and old, evole the years when Clark himself was a teenager, subject to all the stirrings and fan- tasies of young high school students caught in the time warp bet- ween puberty and adult- hood. "Porky's" is a Melvin Simon Produc- tions/Astral Bellevue Pathe Inc. Presenta- tion. The 20th Century- Fox release was direct- ed and written by Bob Clark and produced by Clark and Don Car- mody. Harold Green- berg and Melvin Simon are executive producers.
