It was my first trip to tbe races, and I found the crowds and the excite- ment overwhelming. Firmly entrenched in the bleachers, I made my selections, strictly going on hunches and the sounds of the names, and gave them to my husband to place along with his bets. I w-asn't doing ver.y well until the fifth race,, when I won a 20 to 1 long shot. Excitediy, I insisted on collecting the winnings myself while my hubby guarded our seats. Unsure of where to cash in the ticket, I ap- proached a gruff-looking old man intently studying the racing form. I asked him "Can you please tell me which line is for the winning tickets'?" I chuckled to myself when he replied without even looking up, "The shortest one lady! " You know, he was right. IBROOKLIN HOME BAKERY; I &DELICATESSAN. I 61 BALDWIN ST.
