Three front wheel drive Omni"Kls for 82 Dodge's trend-setting front-wheel-drive sub- compact - Dodge Omni - features new standard equipment, broadened optional equipment choices, and refined engineering for 1982. Omni continues as a j pleasingly-styled, space and fuel-efficient five- door hatchback. There are three Dodge Ommis for 1982 - the high-mileage Omni Miser, Omni Custom, and a premium "E"- Type with a European flair. Dodge Omni for 1982 has been given strong, new frontal identifica- tion with a large Pen- tastar emblem mounted in the centre of the finely-textured, horizon- tal design grile. AU 198 Dodge Omni models have a redesigned front sus- pension ^systemn with a new llnkless sway bar for a smoother, softer j ride with no compro- mise in roil stabilty. Introduced during the 1981 model year as a special, extremely fuel- efficient model, Omni Miser is continued for 1982. Additional equip- ment has been made standard on Miser, in- c1uding deluxe seat beits, day/night mirror, glove-box hock, lef t- hand remote mirror, dual horns and bright wheel hub nuts and wheel dressup. There j are new Miser cohour combinations, too, bigh- ighted by a Daystar Blue exterior with com- phementing light blue in- terior. The Dodge Omni Miser is powered by an economical 1.7 litre, transverse - mowîted four-cylinder engine, inked to a four-speed manual transaxIe. 0mni Misers wlth this drive- train sohd in Canada are designed to operate on lower-cost, regular grade leaded fuel for additionah operating cost savings. The mid-range Omni Custom includes most of Miser's features, plus a colour-keyed sport steering wheel, briglit upper door framnes and drip molding, cargo compartment carpeting and sound insulation, new dehuxe wheel deslgned to slgniflcantly improve performance. An optional 3.74 final drive ratio lias been ad- ded for automatie trans- missions. Stail speed and torque ratio modifi- cations have also oc- curred. Otlierwise Cavalier retains current appear- ance and mechanical features. An upgraded interior inchudes new standard premium sport bucket seats. The driver and passenger seats are equipped with a new Chrysler-designed rec- liner which permits three - and - one - quar- ter degree adjustment increments for im- proved lumbar and thigli support. These new seats havéýcomfort- able contour cushions. Standard engine in the Ommi Custom is a 1.7 litre, four-cyinder powerplant with a cata- hytic exhaust system. - Chrysher's proven 2.2 litre four-cylinder engine without catahyst is optionally avaihable in Omni Custom for 1982, as is a three-speed auto- matic transmission. The 2.2. engine lias im- proved intake manifold- ing, and ike the Miser engine, may be opera- ted on hower-cost, regular headed gasoline. The ultimate Dodge Omni for 1982 is the new Omni "E"-Type Sedan. The European- flavoured Omni 'E" is equxpped with bhackout mohdings, bhack left and riglit remote mirrors, and special "E"-Type tape graphics. A rallye instrument cluster with tachometer, trip odo- meter, and quartz clock is also inchuded.
