Your council was not inactive through the summer, however, wîth a majority attending the annual con- ference of the Ontario Municipal Association. At that conference, the delegates were told that legislation wouid be introduced this fail to extend the terin for elected municipal politicians from the current two to a proposed three year term. It was not indicated whether this change would affect the current term, or corne into effect starting with the November., 1982 elections. Arguments tend to be weighted on the side of the longer term. The financial factors in running for of- fice and the municipal expense of elections are minor points.
