One of the better dining spots in Uic Whit- by and district area, you will enjoy eating at this restaurant. Steaks and Seafood are the specialties of the house, but they have other items you will want to try as well. For a short owners expect this and are prepared for it every year by having plenty of food and staff on hand. They ail admit that Father's Day does not seem to attract as large a number of people. 0f course, we ail know that it is flot a matter of caring about old dad, but after ail Mother's Day has been observed for a very long time. Dad was just a little slower in being recognized as being a little special too. This week we spoke to several restaurant owners and each of them expects that Father's Day will be busier than usual and will be ready for it. There are many fine restaurants in this area and depending on just what dad favours, you have plenty of places to choose from. If it hap- pens to be steak that dad cails a treat, you could try El Stavro's on King Street East in Oshawa. There is Steve's Steak House on Simcoe Street North in the same city, or the Filling Station, just up the street. You can have a very good meal at the Magie Car in Oshawa and on Sundays they have two magicians wandering around among the tables, entertaining Uic dîners, no matter what the age. Fine steaks are also New college head Ewart F. Marston, a prominent Port Hope citizen, was recently elected Chairman of the Durham College Board of Governors, replacing John Lar- mond, who has been transferred by his com- pany to another location. Marston is a con- sulting engineer and president of Marston Engineering Limited, Port Hope. He is also chairman of the com- mittee of adjustment and vice-chairman of served up at the LeChalet, Ali Baba and the Coach House in Whitby. And of course thc Ranch Steak House and Penn Centre in Ajax are noted for steaks that make the mouth water. Over at Uic Grenada Restaurant in Sheridan Maîl, you can have steak, roast beef or just about whatever your taste buds desire. It may be that the man of the house likes Chinese dishes and there are plenty 0f good restaurants in the Oshawa-Whitby area. In Whitby there is the Golden Gate Restaurant on Brock Street and The Great Wall Restaurant Cari of Murjan 227 Brock Street South, Whifby 666-2211 The Place to Bring Dad for Father's Day Every Sunday Brunch is avai labie f rom 11:30 -3 p.m. Special for 4 $1 3.95 Scrambled eggs, 2 types of pancakes, bacon, sausage & bottomless cup of cof fee.. In Oshawa there are several good Chinese eating spots, two of them being on King Street, On the other hands, Dad may be a plain meat and potatoes man, and if that is Uic case you have ail kinds of restaurants m inchearea. Then too, there are restaurants that feature only chicken. There is the Swiss Chalet on Dundas Street East, in Whitby, and Haugen's on Highway 12 at Man- chester. Just north of Manchester on 12, there is the Water Mill where you can have Sunday buffet of beef, pork or turkey, and aIl you can eat at a very reasonable price. Most of the better restaurants in Uic area feature a salad bar, or at least serve salad with vour meal. So June 21, consider the fact that old dad miazht consider it quite a treat to be taken out to eat - after ail it would be different; it is usually old dad that pays.
